Participant Recruitment Request

MSc Dissertation

Could you help Louise, a writer of Distance Learning Hub modules, in their Dissertation research?

“I am currently working towards an MSc Applied Social Research at the University of Stirling and this research project will be my postgraduate dissertation. Previous studies have recognised the additional social, emotional, and economic challenges that having a disabled child has on a family as well as the positive outcomes and relationships that develop.

The primary aim of this project is to explore the relationship between parents and the sibling(s) of a disabled child, as few studies have examined how parents negotiate their time and responsibilities with their typically developing children. I would like to invite parents to take part, to share your perspectives and experiences.

For this study, I will be conducting individual interviews with participants, and I expect the interviews to last approximately one hour. Participation is entirely voluntary, and you are not required to participate in follow-up interviews.

Participants must be:

  • over the age of eighteen.
  • live in the Perth and Kinross area.
  • have a child who is aged between 12-17 years old with a disability.”

*The sibling(s) will ideally be under the age of eighteen.

If you would like to participate in the research or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact Louise Dixon at lod00083@students.stir.ac.uk
