Ukraine Appeal – We are here

News

Martha Aitken, a D of E Award holder from Perth and Kinross, has been in touch with us requesting that we share an urgent request for help for her and her fellow aid workers in Ukraine.
She wrote to us saying:

We have been rushed off our feet here and each day keeps moulding into the last. It’s hard when the news is taken over with debt and the rising costs of everything in the UK and people are not in the same position to donate like they have done before.”

We are really struggling to raise money and the resources that are so much needed over here for the work we are doing.

We have two ambulances donated from Norway and Sweden. A team of medical professionals. We do patient transfers for ordinary citizens with normal non war related conditions. We do soldier and civilian evacuations from the front lines. We deliver aid to subway stations being used as bomb shelters housing 100s of people including children. This is the basic message of our mission and aim. We are based in Irpin a previously occupied area, outside our windows are piles of rubble and burnt buildings.”

We are a big group of volunteers from different places in Norway, Sweden, Germany and the UK. We are here to deliver disaster relief to the Ukrainian people.
We are an official registered organisation from Norway, transporting medical equipment and medicines to the hospitals inside Ukraine and we are a part of the front line evacuation team in Kharkiv.

“If you know of any aid collections I have a van leaving on the 14th from London. We could courier them down there and the van can drive the stuff over as again getting people to do the trip with the van is also becoming harder and harder.”

“Do you know if Errol airfield is still doing collections and bringing them to Ukraine? If you have any links with hospitals or healthcare centres we are looking for donations of medial equipment and wheelchairs and crutches again they can be sent to London and transported over here.”

We wish Martha and the rest of her team well and hope that someone reading her words will find a way of helping. We will continue to keep in contact with Martha and do all within our abilities to support the endeavours of those trying to save and protect lives.
