Happy Volunteer Week everyone!

Volunteer Week is a UK-wide campaign which takes place on the first week in June each year.

It is a time when volunteering which involves organisations and groups are encouraged to thank their wonderful volunteers, past and present through celebrating and recognising their fantastic volunteering efforts.

The Volunteer Week campaign started back in 1984 making this year their 40th Anniversary.

The Association would like to take this opportunity to thank our incredible team of volunteers whether you are volunteering with us right now or have done previously, we really appreciate everything you do for the Association and the inspiring young people that you work with on a daily basis.

During Volunteers’ Week, on Tuesday 4th June, we are encouraged to come together to recognise and celebrate the impact that youth social action has.
Join us this year and #BeThatPerson who made you feel empowered when you were younger.
In a world where young voices are increasingly recognised as powerful forces of change, Power Of Youth Day stands as a testament to the impact and potential passions of the younger generations.
Organised by the #iwill Movement, this event is not only a celebration, it is also a call to action where individuals and businesses are invited to unite in recognising, empowering and providing opportunities for the leaders of the future.
In honour of Power Of Youth Day, you could start planning your DofE expeditions that you hope to take part in during the summer, you could look into where you would like to stay for your Gold level residential and you could look into activities that you would like to continue or start as part of your Physical, Volunteering and Skills sections.

Here are our 4 of our wonderful volunteers – Jon, Morag, Jenny and Dave – at the garden Megginch Castle.
Dave says: “I volunteered with the Starfish Way for over 4 years now and have loved my time at Megginch. I’ve been less involved in the past 12 months. My volunteer colleagues Jon, Morag and Jenny make a huge difference and the garden has never looked better. I also attended the Awards Night (last year’s December) which was inspirational in celebrating the achievements of the young people.β€œ
Thank you Dave – we are so fortunate to have all you lovely people helping us. And yes – the garden looks absolutely amazing! πŸ’š
“I have been volunteering for the DofE at Megginch Castle gardens for over two years now. I enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the lovely gardens and get to work with some other great volunteers keeping the garden in shape and growing fruit and veg for the DofE young people to enjoy their garden experience. I thoroughly recommend volunteering here, or indeed anywhere.”
Β
Thank you so much Jonathan for all your support and the wonderful work you and the others do in the garden. πŸ’š
